Alpen Capital (IMAP GCC) advised Strategic Foods International Company, the Dubai-based subsidiary and operating company of Britannia Industries (India), in the 1) acquisition of the business assets, brand, licenses and rights of Britania brand (from Britania Foods Limited and Catalyst Britania Brands Limited in Kenya), and 2) the acquisition of Goodie Baker brands and business (from Kenafric Group in Kenya).

The acquisition is structured through a Strategic Joint Venture with Kenafric Group of Companies (Kenya) and the new JV entity will own 100% of the acquired assets. 

Founded in 1892 and headquartered in Kolkata, Britannia, an Indian food and beverage company, is one of oldest existing companies in India and among the most trusted food brands. Britannia’s product portfolio includes biscuits, bread, cakes, rusk, and dairy products including cheese, beverages, milk and yoghurt. The company has an operating presence in more than 60 countries across the globe and recorded US$ 1.7 billion in revenues in FY 2021 with a market capitalization in excess of US$ 11 billion.

Founded in 1987 by the Chedda family, Kenafric Group of Companies is one of the largest and reputed group in East Africa. The family was operating business in East Africa for over 60 years and has a deep understanding and relationship in the market. The group has interest in multiple businesses including confectionaries, food and beverages, real estate, banking, among others. The group employs more than 2,000 people and has a distribution footprint in countries across Africa including Kenya, Uganda Tanzania, Congo and Rwanda.
