Khell-Food is the largest producer of ready-made sandwiches and baguettes in the Hungarian market
IMAP is pleased to announce that Concorde MB Partners – IMAP Hungary advised the shareholder of Khell-Food on its sale to Orkla.
Khell-Food is the largest producer of ready-made sandwiches and baguettes in the Hungarian market. The company is the market-leading player in this fast-growing consumer goods segment. Khell-Food was established in 1992 by the seller Zoltán Kelényi and distributes nationwide from a modern production facility outside Budapest. The products are mainly sold at petrol stations and retail chains under the company’s own brand.
Orkla is a leading industrial investment company with a brand and consumer-oriented scope, and is listed on the Norwegian Stock Exchange. As one of 12 portfolio companies, Orkla Foods Europe generates NOK 17.3 billion in revenue and has around 6,500 employees operating in 10 countries throughout Northern, Central and Eastern Europe.
The purchase of Khell-Food was carried out by Orkla Foods Česko a Slovensko (CaS), which is part of Orkla Foods Europe. CaS is already established in the Hungarian market through its subsidiary Hamé Hungary.
The transaction strongly contributes to Orkla’s goal of succeeding in the premium sandwich market and achieving growth within the out-of-home food channels in the CEE region.
The team from Concorde MB Partners – IMAP Hungary, led by Kálmán Nagy, Tamás Ünnep and Nándor Tóth, acted as sole advisor to Khell-Food. Details of the transaction are not disclosed.
