IMAP advised the founding family, BayBG Bayerische Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH, and other shareholders of SEP AG (SEP), a leading provider specialized security software solutions, in particular backup and disaster recovery software, on the acquisition by private equity investor BIP Capital Partners (BIP). BIP, through its fund BIP Interim SCSp, has acquired a majority stake in SEP as part of a succession solution. Susanne Moosreiner, CEO and co-founder, Rainer Seyerlein and Ewald Einwanger will remain minority shareholders and continue in their current roles to drive SEP's growth strategy.

SEP, founded in 2003 and headquartered in Holzkirchen, is a specialized software provider of platform-independent data protection solutions ‘Made in Germany’. The data protection solutions enable companies and organisations to protect their data around the clock and to fully restore it in the event of a disaster. Its core product is SEP sesam, the backup and recovery software for virtual and physical environments. SEP has a strong partner network and satisfied customers in over 45 countries.

BIP invests in medium-sized companies with clear growth prospects, particularly in Germany, the Benelux countries, Austria and Switzerland. The investment funds advised by BIP support the further development and growth of companies from various sectors, both through extensive expertise and by financing further growth initiatives or acquisitions.
