Gonçalo started his career at Banco Português do Atlântico and BNP (nowadays BNP Paribas). He was the Executive Director responsible for the Large Companies Division at Banco Pinto & Sotto Mayor, Banco Totta & Açores and Banco Chemical Finance (1996- 2000). At the turn of the millennium he moved to Caixa Geral de Depósitos, and went on to become the Executive Director responsible for the Clients Division (2000 – 2004) and for the International Clients Division ( 2004 – 2005).

Later, he was appointed a Member of the Board of Directors and of the Executive Committee of Caixa Banco de Investimento (2005 – 2012); In 2012 he left Caixa and joined Banif Group as member of the Board of Directors of Banif- Banco Internacional do Funchal (2012-2013). He joined Banco Finantia in 2013 as Vice President of the Executive Committee and Head of Corporate Finance. Gonçalo has a long track record in Capital Markets, having led major Portuguese Privatization Processes, key Fixed Income Transactions, Project Finance and M&A operations, both Domestic and Cross Border.

Gonçalo has a degree in Business Administration from the Católica School of Business and an MBA in Marketing from the same school. He has also attended the Financial Management Program at Stanford Business School and the Advanced Management Program at Kellogg School of Management.
