IMAP advised the shareholders of ATTO-TEC GmbH, a leading specialty supplier of fluorescent dyes and reagents, on its acquisition by Leica Microsystems. ATTO dyes and reagents for sample preparation complement the renowned Leica portfolio of microscopy imaging platforms and advanced AI-based analysis software.
ATTO-TEC GmbH was founded in 1999 as a spin-off of the University of Siegen. The company specialises in the development and synthesis of fluorescent dyes and reagents for medical and biological applications. With a portfolio of more than 40 fluorophores with over 400 modifications, ATTO-TEC offers tailor-made solutions across the entire visible spectral range to customers worldwide. ATTO dyes have become a benchmark for fluorescence microscopy imaging. Their brightness and photostability make them the reagents of choice for demanding applications.
Leica Microsystems, a subsidiary of Danaher Corporation, develops and manufactures fully integrated solutions for microscopic imaging and scientific instruments to analyze microstructures and nanostructures. Leica Microsystems is one of the market leaders in compound and stereo microscopy, digital microscopy, confocal laser scanning microscopy with related imaging systems including AI-enabled image analysis, electron microscopy sample preparation, and surgical microscopes.
“I am convinced that in Leica Microsystems we have found the ideal partner to continue the ATTO-TEC success story and to further expand our microscopy imaging offering with the joint know-how. I would like to thank the entire IMAP team for their highly professional and dedicated support throughout the entire process," said Andreas Drexhage, shareholder of ATTO-TEC.
The IMAP team consisting of Dr. Carsten Lehmann, Michael Knoll, Patrick Fritscher and Nicolas Theis exclusively advised the shareholders of ATTO-TEC in a structured M&A process through all phases to a successful closing.
