IMAP is pleased to announce the appointment of Marcio Fiuza, Managing Partner at Brasilpar – IMAP Brazil to the IMAP Board.
The IMAP Executive Board, comprised of 10 members elected by designated partners for four-year terms, is responsible for setting the partnership’s global strategic direction. Each member brings unique expertise, collectively ensuring that IMAP continues to grow and deliver exceptional value to its clients.
Claire Smedley, Head of Marketing & Communications at IMAP Corporate Office sat down with Marcio to discuss his vision for IMAP and what he hopes to bring to the leadership team.
First, many congratulations on your appointment. Can you tell me a little about your role as Managing Partner at Brasilpar?
We have seven partners at Brasilpar, and each of us is responsible for the origination of new leads and mandates, as well as the execution of our individual mandates. Two senior partners are engaged on every single transaction, which assures our clients always receive both a superior, and seamless level of service.
Where do you believe you can most contribute to the Leadership team?
I bring a broad range of modern governance expertise, including key areas such as risk management, board evaluation, ESG, legal and compliance, family business succession, governance practices, and cybersecurity.
I also recently completed a board member training program and received my Certified Board Member designation from the Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance (IBGC).
What’s your vision for IMAP moving forward?
My vision is for IMAP to become the global leader in mid-market transactions (under $500 million) by enhancing collaboration and efficiency among the partner firms, and maximizing cross-border opportunities identified across IMAP's presence in more than 50 countries.
What do you consider to be the challenges facing IMAP?
New technologies like AI pose significant risks of obsolescence, particularly for information-based businesses. IMAP must continuously adapt its practices to stay efficient and competitive. Additionally, geopolitical shifts in a multipolar world with heightened tensions may reshape the landscape for M&A activity.
And finally, where do you see opportunities for IMAP - how do we differ from other mid-market advisors?
IMAP partners have the unique ability to bridge cultural differences between buyers and sellers across countries or continents, as well as navigate the modus operandi between family-owned businesses and multinational corporations. This capability allows IMAP partners to collaborate effectively, ensuring client objectives are met in the best possible way.
