IMAP is pleased to announce that DegroofPetercam Investment Banking (“DPIB”) – IMAP France – acted as exclusive financial adviser to the John Cockerill group (the “Group”) in the context of the sale of its water treatment specialist entity Balteau to the Belgian group Wanty. This transaction is in line with the Group’s strategy of refocusing on activities targeting industrial clients and offering greater potential for international development.

Founded in 1979, Balteau is the Wallon leader in municipal water collection, pumping, treatment and purification solutions, mainly in Belgium. By joining Wanty, Balteau will continue to benefit not only from a stable local base, but also from strengthened positioning in Belgium’s public sector markets and new growth opportunities in the infrastructure and construction sector.

With the acquisition of Balteau, Wanty is pursuing its diversification strategy and strengthening its market position. The integration of Balteau enhances its services portfolio by bringing complementary expertise in wastewater treatment, and electromechanical and electrotechnical equipment. The acquisition also consolidates Wanty’s position in public markets, while expanding its opportunities in the private sector, where demand for sustainable and innovative water treatment solutions is growing.

Moreover, the regional fund WallonieEntreprendre played a pro-active role alongside the various counterparties to ensure the success of the operation and support the regional entrepreneurial fabric.

With this transaction, DPIB confirms its expertise in the Environmental and Business Services sectors, as well as its ability to assist international family groups in their strategic divestment processes.
