IMAP advises Chinese GMT Automation on the acquisition of ALPHA PLAN

IMAP advised the Chinese Zhejiang GMT Group Co., Ltd. (GMT) on the acquisition of the German company ALPHA PLAN GmbH. Through the acquisition, GMT strengthens its presence in the German market and acquires expertise in the automation of equipment for the production of medical disposables, in particular dialysis filters. GMT also gains access to additional human resources for the automation, commissioning and service of automated systems for automotive electromobility in Europe.

Based in Huzhou, Zhejiang Province, China, Zhejiang GMT Group Co., Ltd. is a fast-growing equipment manufacturer focused on automation solutions for the automotive industry. GMT specialises in applications for the production of components for electric vehicles, autonomous driving, body parts and welding technologies, as well as medical technology and the semiconductor sector. Founded in 2017, the company operates three production facilities in China and four sales and service offices in Germany, Mexico and Singapore.

ALPHA PLAN is a leading manufacturer of production systems for the manufacture of dialysis filters. As a specialist at the interface of membrane-based filter technology and automation, the company, based in Radeberg near Dresden, Germany, exports its systems with an annual production capacity of over 100 million dialysis filters to more than 20 countries worldwide. With this acquisition, GMT not only achieves its goal of immediately using ALPHA PLAN's existing assembly and service capacity to fulfil current orders from German automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers, but also strengthens its market position in the two fastest growing dialysis markets in Asia - China and India.

The IMAP team, consisting of Burkhard Weber, Ulrich Keesen and Barbara Hubert (IMAP Germany) together with Junxiong (Jacky) Wang and Jaiyi (Jenny) Han (IMAP China), exclusively advised GMT throughout all stages of the acquisition process, leading to its successful completion. This transaction is another successful example of IMAP's global industry expertise in industrial automation.
