American Farms is a leading supplier for landscapers and garden centers throughout the state of Florida
Capstone Partners advised American Farms, Southwest Florida’s premier grower of annual and perennial plants, on its sale to Osprey Capital.
American Farms is a leading supplier for landscapers and garden centers throughout the state of Florida. Their plants are sold primarily through Walmart Garden Centers and independent nurseries throughout the state, and additionally, on a contract basis to growers further north where winter temperatures limit the growing season. American Farms also supplies a large base of local landscapers via distribution hubs in Miami, Tampa, and Orlando. The company’s plants are featured at many of Florida’s country clubs and premier resorts, including the Walt Disney and Universal Studios properties.
Christine Raber, Managing Director, American Farms, said
"Capstone came up to speed quickly, gaining a deep understanding of our business and our goals. They were able to find us a buyer, where the synergy of cultures enabled the transaction to close quickly within the timeline parameters we set, while maximizing value. It took a lot of hard work on both sides, but it was a very gratifying experience!"
According to Capstone Managing Director Tom Elliott, “American Farms’ owners were looking to complete a deal before year-end with a buyer that had an appreciation for the many unique aspects of their business. We found a perfect buyer in the form of Dave Hoffman’s family office, who has specialized knowledge of growing operations, an appreciation for the management team and the culture they built, as well as a theoretical infinite hold period for the business. A high level of trust and cooperation on both sides allowed us to go from engagement to closing in just six months.”
